James And Mylo, Sitting In A Tree, S.H.A.R.I.N.G.
Saturday, March 29th, 2008Falling Down
Friday, March 28th, 2008Went scootering to the level after lunch today. They have big benches for lazy grown-ups to sit on which curve round the playground and paddling pool.
The ones round the playground, which I’m used to running around, are broken up every now and again by a gap: this means I need help to ‘three – four – jump’ the gap, and slows me down. The one by the paddling pool, though, is an unbroken half-circle of bench. I got up a load of speed while whizzing around it, but then I came to a hole in the bench I hadn’t seen: my front foot vanished into it, my back foot kept on going and I went down off the benches onto the concrete face-first.
I was lucky: I scratched my cheek, and got a cut lip and a real scare. Dad got me a Rocket ice lolly, by the time I’d nipped the chocolate off the end I was feeling better.. I got back on the bench, he pointed out the hole, and I skirted it gingerly (holding his hand).
By the time we got home a small egg-sized bruise had appeared right in the middle of my forehead. I took it easy for a while (sat on parental knee under a blanket watching Shrek 2 for the second time today) but woke up by bedtime so Daisy had to go to sleep by herself with her Princess magazine while Dad tried to make me shut my eyes by sheer willpower as Mum is at work in the evenings this week.
The Ice Picnic
Tuesday, March 25th, 2008Our Easter picnic was on Sunday: we drove up through snow and hail, but when we arrived at Auntie Margaret’s new house in Dorking it wasn’t even raining but it was very cold.. I got some belated birthday presents – Roary and Maxi and Plugger cars, and a talking Big Chris doll! Way cool.
Soon Mylo arrived with parents in tow and all set off for Box Hill, where we met the rest of the party, twenty or so.
We trekked up the muddy road to our picnic area, same place every year. While everyone else was setting out blankets and opening picnics, me and Mum and Daisy and Millie went up the steps and over the big side of the hill to the fort up there, played for a while, then came back down through the woods to see how many sausage rolls were left (ZOMG! Home-made sausage rolls are much nicer than shop ones, especially when they are squeezed-out Porky Whites wrapped in puff pastry)
Daisy and Millie led the way back down through the forest (I Made Mum carry me as I had already fallen over in the freezing mud). They kept trying to make us take a different path from them, saying they would meet us later – sounded like they were trying to ‘take the dog for a walk‘ again and we refused. Incidentally, Jumble didn’t come up with us, sensible dog..
We made it back down eventually. Uncle Dick climbed up too, but he went back down the steps: Daisy and Millie claimed they had made it down ‘without a grown-up’ which peeved mum somewhat. There were some sausage rolls and picnic left, phew!
Unfortunately, the freezing mud on my trousers was taking it’s toll and I started shivering. I’m not keen on scarves and gloves and hats and that, I won’t have my hood up unless it is perceptibly raining, and I probably didn’t have enough layers on. Nobody expects Arctic Easter.. I had to retreat to the car with Mum to warm up and we missed the jarping but got back in time to do the eggrolling. I didn’t win.
Then it was back to Auntie Margarets for a party, I played with Mylo: Alex took a nice video of us sharing trains and cars, which – with a bit of pixellation! – he might post.
Easter Picnic
Saturday, March 22nd, 2008It’s usually our family’s Boxing Day picnics which are freezing cold but the forecast for tomorrow’s Easter picnic is ‘Light Snow’.. last year it was really sunny and we played Pope 24 (I’m not sure what the game was called but it involved a lot of running around?)
My Name Is Ames
Saturday, March 22nd, 2008There’s a TV show for us littleones called Yo Gabba Gabba which systematically drops into a fuzzy flat-headed minimal techno groove for it’s links.. go DJ Lance!
Really, it’s cool: you should check it out.
Party Part
Friday, March 21st, 2008We went to Sophia’s fourth birthday party today, we were meant to go the Enchanted Forest at Groombridge, but we ended going to Knockhatch adventure park because of worries about the weather. In the end it was a lovely day and it only rained when we got home!
We saw Flynn (who is my age) and his little sister Scarlett and Sophia of course (she’s ‘Fia’ to us littles) and her older brother Jack and had a good time on a big slide, a tractor ride, jumpolining, they had a chair swing roundabout thing, feeding a lamb (made a change!), they had softplay, it was mostly sunny, we had a picnic, it wasn’t busy at all. Perfick.
Standing Address
Monday, March 17th, 2008I’ve taken to standing over my potty, maybe even holding on for extra accuracy – it’s the trip-and-tip to the toilet that usually goes wrong now :)
New Album Out
Sunday, March 16th, 2008We’ve uploaded our pics from the year so far – a lot fewer than in comparable periods from previous quarters. We asked the Director of Photography to explain why his department is performing so poorly: he blamed me for grabbing the camera every time it appears and shouting MINE! The cheek. I’ve so stopped doing that anyway, and have taken up posing instead, check out the pictures.
Incidentally, for any dental students out there, there are some great shots of our tonsils in there..
Superhero Dash
Friday, March 14th, 2008I watched The Incredibles yesterday! In fact, I watched it twice – once with Mum and Daisy, and once with Dad after Daisy had gone to bed and Mum had gone out.
About halfway through the first watching I transformed into a superhero of my own, speeding round the living room at full speed shouting “SoorHero Dash”, running into doors and bouncing off walls, doing bum-jumps and body-dives on Dad (who was lying on the floor and thus fair game) and showing off my fighting moves.
Jamesathon E
Tuesday, March 11th, 2008Whenever we go to a playground with a skatepark attached – The Level, Kelvingrove Park at Grandma’s, Hove Lagoon – and I’ve got my scooter, I wait until my attending parent is distracted, then I cruise into the skatepark on my scooter, just cruising and.. belonging. I take no notice of the bikers and skaters zooming past, and they take no notice of me.
